"We had a very relaxing weekend. Our weather was rainy, but we found enough sunny, dry times to enjoy the outdoors. We did our normal drives to Lake Hammond, Colton Point (and a new dirt road!) at Lyman Lake. The fall foliage was probably the best I've seen since I was a kid. So beautiful! Until next time! "Our first time staying here but not our last. We've been coming to Potter County for 35 years though. Your rental lacks nothing! Has all the comforts of home. The weather was great. A little rain, which was perfect in the deck roof. Made it even more relaxing. We saw Momma with her 2 fawns each day. Last evening, we did a drive up 6 and out 44 to Conrad and Wharton. Saw a black bear and 5 elk. Got beautiful pictures of all. We also did the Ice Mine once again. We came for relaxation, and we certainly got plenty of it. "The weather was not in our favor this weekend. Friday, we had drizzling rain all day. We did make it up to the deer park and almost hit a deer on the way. Thank the Lord for new brakes and quick reactions. Saturday, we got breakfast at the Plaza Cafe. Excellent service and food. Then we headed up to Leonard Harrison State Park, PA Grand Canyon to find it closed for remodeling. We left and found an Ice Mine in Coudersport, which was very cool. Sunday we were going to go to Gary's Putter Golf but rain all day. We vegged in the cabin and binged watched 1883 with a cold coors light and a boli from Murphy's; delicious. Heading home this AM. Thanks for a great place to stay again." - July 2023

"Weather cold, rainy, snow and sleet. Seen turkeys out hunting but no luck getting any. Caught 7 trout total on Lyman Run and one was a big palomino! Cast Away was comfy as always and still our favorite place to stay in Potter County. Keep up the great work!" - April/May 2023

"We had a great weekend at Cast Away Cottage. Such a lovely place. We came for the Dickens of a Christmas in Wellsboro. We had breakfast at the Wellsboro Diner. Did a little shopping at craft stands. Went to see "A Christmas Carol" at The Warehouse Theatre and finished it off with dinner at Log Cabin. We only saw one deer, nothing else. Finished crocheting some Christmas stockings and just enjoyed the peace and quiet. Thank you for a really cozy weekend getaway. We will be back!" - December 2022

"Weather was really warm.  Not much luck seeing deer, bear or turkeys hunting. Was always deer around Cast Away every evening though! Cast Away is our favorite place to stay in the area. Very peaceful and homey. Every improvement has been great and it is very apparent that much thought and attention to detail has been made to make it comfortable for guests!" - November 2022

"Thank you for another wonderful stay! My parents, daughter and daughter's boyfriend spent the weekend with us. My dad kept commenting on how clean the cottage was, and my mom wished she had the same view out her kitchen window. Chad and my dad helped our friend work on a nearby camp while the rest of us went out to enjoy the local attractions. We enjoyed feeding the deer at Black Forest Trading Post and the Deer Park. The spooky trail was fun at the PA Lumber Museum. We'd like to go back for another tour during the day. The bear weren't around for us, but we saw tons of deer and a fox. The scenery was gorgeous with all the fall colors!! Thanks again for your hospitality! We will visit again.  P.S. "Thanks for another enjoyable getaway at Cast Away. We hit prime time for the fall foliage. Spectacular. We did a lot of driving. We saw deer, turkey, fox and a bobcat in our travels. We went to Lyman Lake, PA Grand Canyon and drove around enjoying the countryside. We also saw eagles but couldn't get to the camera fast enough to get a picture. I spotted a horned owl perched in a tree and did get a great pic of that. I love being able to come up here and relax and unwind. It serves me well. Truly appreciate the cleanliness and how well stocked the kitchen is. We'll be back!" - October 2022

"Another lovely visit to Cast Away Cottage. Sat out by the fire till the stars came out and we actually saw the milky way. So incredible. We saw a bear this evening as we strolled down the road and a full-fledged herd of deer in the field. It was a perfect evening. We love this place."

"Just a one night stay, but was an enjoyable and comfortable stay. We ventured to the Grand Canyon, Lyman Run State Park, and took a drive to look for wildlife. No deer on Thursday night, but we did see some in the yard Friday morning!" - August 2022

"Up for a week. Kids loved going back to Lyman Lake. The water was nice. A storm did blow in while we were there. Shopping in Wellsboro, Grand Canyon, the deer park, picking blueberries, dinner at the Perma Stone and visiting with relatives. Saw some deer at Germania Station and one at Cast Away Cottage. Always a great time in the mountains." - August 2022

"This was our second stay here and it felt like home! Thank you for your hospitality. We rode ATVs on Generations lease and rode to Cross Fork. The weather was gorgeous all weekend! We had a nice campfire, saw deer and a coyote, and even saw the ISS pass by. The bear snuck by just after we came inside (thanks for the video)! Hopefully we will see the bear next time. We'll be back soon!!  P.S. We loved the swing!" July 2022 

"Second trip. This time I saw a deer in the grass across the road. Still have not seen that bear. HaHa. I think he's playing hide & seek. Did go to see the baby Fallow Deer. Had a relaxing time just watching the chipmunks and had a campfire. I am so thankful you share your home so I can come visit my fav place - Potter." - June 2022 

"We had our second amazing stay here at Cast Away. We arrived Friday afternoon. Went to the Grand Canyon and got to hike Turkey Path top to bottom, it's a beautiful sight to see. Saturday, we ventured off to the PA Lumber Museum and then stopped at the deer park and fed the fallow deer. Both very close by places to see. While in the cabin and being outside of it, we saw lots of bunnies, chipmunks and a doe that was out front every morning and evening. Once again we will return here. Thank you for allowing us a nice place for a weekend get away." - June 2022

"This was a wonderful place to stay. Clean and very comfortable. So many places to go see. Lots of wildlife came through. When we got here there were 4 baby robins in a nest on the back porch. It was a joy to sit on the back porch and just chill. Sitting on the swing out front and watching the robins and the blue birds was so much fun. Also got to watch the deer come into the field in front of the cabin both nights. Cabin is clean & well taken care of and we hope to be back this summer or fall to see the beautiful grand canyon again, see the deer & maybe cast a few line in the trout streams. "Great hunting trip. We got a 7 point buck and a doe. Another hunter on our lease got a bear! Seen lots of deer in the yard and field at Cast Away every evening when we returned from hunting. Cast Away was great as usual, lots of room for our gear and much more peaceful and relaxing than a motel." - October 2021

"This is our third visit to Cast Away! We love it! Even a rainy weekend couldn't ruin it. The cottage was the perfect place to rest and relax and felt 'homey' yet still like a great vacation. The leaves in the area are so pretty, some are hit and miss. We enjoyed some time at the firepit Friday night. Never left the cabin Saturday! Just enjoyed the rain and peace! We will see ya again, Cast Away. P.S. Just as the sun was setting, the deer came out into the field. So many babies frolicking around and having the zoomies! "Thanks so much for making your place available on such short notice on one of the busiest weekends in Potter County. Brought the 'Bear' up for his birthday. Went to the Lumberjack event, which was really cool. Dinner at Permastone...2 hours to get the food, but oh well, we didn't have a schedule! Got lost 50 miles the wrong way, no cell reception, but we made it back in the same day. All in all...good time away.

"We had such an amazing stay! My husband and I haven't been up this way in over 20 something years and this was a first time for our kids. We visited the Kinzua Bridge, PA Grand Canyon, Austin Dam, Kettle Creek State Park, and many other state parks. We loved going around and looking for wildlife. We saw several deer. 4 would come every morning here at Cast Away. We finally made it to Cherry Springs the last night here to see the stars. Breathtaking! Well worth it. "Had a good week. Started with cold weather. Didn't start to catch fish till Wednesday. Six campers caught 93 trout. One was a 17 in. golden trout and one was a 16 in. brook trout. In my 49 years fishing that is the biggest brook we have caught. Great camp. Thank you!" - May 2021

"Seen lots of deer hunting, but didn't get any. Weather was cold and rainy, but it was nice to come back to Cast Away to dry out and warm up. The electric heater and clothes dryer rack worked nice to dry our wet hunting clothes. The bathroom remodel and new deck roof was a nice improvement from spring when we were here last. "We're back...with friends! We saw mama bear and her cubs several times this week! Beautiful! Caught 5 buck sparring and playing. It looked like the oldest (6-8 pt) was teaching the young boys what to do. 
We were fishing a few times at both Lyman Lake and Beechwood Lake.
Plenty to do here and we took our friends to deer park to feed the fallow deer. Unfortunately, the Ice Mine was closed on Sunday.

"Very peaceful and beautiful views. Loved that bears were close. Deer paraded by every day. Morning coffee with that Mountain View was the best. Ventured into great shops in Galeton. Only 12 miles to the beautiful night skies of Cherry Springs where we actually saw the Milky Way, very close to the breathtaking beauty of Pennsylvania’s Grand Canyon, as well as the spectacular Kinzua skywalk. We loved everything about our comfortable accommodations at Cast Away cottage. Couldn’t get over how close it is to all of the beautiful attractions along Route 6. Go if you get the opportunity. Can only imagine how beautiful in the fall.  -August 2020

"What a beautiful place. So comfortable and inviting. Cleanest rental we've ever stayed in. We'll definitely return. Close to everything. Spent a mesmerizing evening/night watching the stars at Cherry Springs, loved Kinzua Skywalk, and Grand Canyon. Galeton is a nice town.

I've already shared cottage info with others. Family getaway actually turned into mother & daughter getaway due to school changes.

"Steve saw a bear out the window. We fished at Lyman Run State Park - one rainbow, a stringer of Huge pumpkinseeds and blue gill. Great Dinner! Then we fished Pine Creek near Gaines - 5 trout - Delicious with Swiss chard and macaroni. Next we fished til 7pm on Beechwood Lake - crappies, northern pike, blue gills. We had a beautiful week. Cottage VERY clean and comfortable. Would love to come back fall fishing and/or deer hunting." - June 2020
